FAQ

Common questions

Does TaxEase UK file directly with HMRC?

Yes. TaxEase UK is registered with HMRC as software for filing Self Assessment online. Your return goes from the app straight to HMRC, and HMRC confirms receipt within seconds. You keep the receipt in your account.

Do I need to create an account?

Yes, a free account with just your email. Your answers are saved encrypted in your account, so you can carry on from your phone, tablet or computer; your accountant sees them only if you choose to share them. If you use the expenses tracker, those entries are saved in your account. The free tools (calculator, scanners, risk checker) work without an account.

Is my data safe?

Yes. When you are signed in, the Self Assessment wizard saves your answers encrypted in your account, so you can continue on any device. Account data is stored encrypted in the EU (Frankfurt), payments are handled by Stripe, and we never sell your data. The Privacy Policy explains the details.

Which tax year does it cover?

The current version covers the 2025–26 tax year (6 April 2025 to 5 April 2026), with a filing deadline of 31 January 2027.

Can I use it if I have foreign income?

Yes. TaxEase UK includes SA106 (foreign income) guidance with FTCR (Foreign Tax Credit Relief) calculation, HMRC exchange rate guidance, and double-taxation treaty information.

Does it support Making Tax Digital (MTD)?

Yes. The built-in MTD Quarterly Tracker lets you record income and expenses each quarter. MTD for Income Tax is mandatory from April 2026 for sole traders and landlords whose self-employment and property income, before expenses, is over £50,000 a year.

What languages are supported?

English, Romanian, Polish, Italian, German, Spanish, French, Hungarian, Bulgarian and Czech. Every part of the app, forms, tooltips, glossary, guidance notes, is fully translated.

What is the difference between Free and Premium?

Free: all data entry steps 1–12 fully unlocked, including OCR (1 document), deductibility checker (3 uses), and MTD tracker (current quarter). Premium unlocks full tax summary, tax optimizer, filing checklist, unlimited OCR.

Can my accountant use it?

Yes. Accountants can join TaxEase UK as partners: their clients fill in the multilingual wizard, and the accountant reviews and files. Plans start at £49 a month. See the For accountants page. There is also an affiliate programme.

Can I use it on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Open the browser version directly on Safari, Chrome or Firefox, it works on any device.
